Layla and dolan are such a funny pair. I laughed out loud numerous times, but got teary eyed also. It was such a great book that i read it in a few hours, I couldn’t put it down. Cant wait for sloanes book next!
Layla has trouble with Dolan, a 7-foot alien who is obsessed with her and thinks they are mates. He follows her around and on Christmas he danced around playing air guitar and singing a song for her. She was mortified. Her friend Sloane thinks it’s funny. She also has an alien obsessed with her named Exer – and he’s the one that catches Layla’s attention because he looks more human than the others, no scales and lots of muscles. The meaner Layla treats Dolan, the more patient he becomes with her. He keeps trying to show her that he would be an excellent mate for her, but she just gets angry at him. She rejects him over and over again.When Dolan again comes near her, she begins to talk to him about “mangaâ€. It’s nonsense to him and she knows it, but she keeps talking on and on and on about it to see if he will listen to her like her brother, Shep. Shep was the only one who listened to her every word, and she misses him very much. Dolan did listen, despite not understanding what she said. But he made that effort. Was this a beginning for them? When she saw Dolan later walk off with his brother, Azan, she actually watched them to make sure everything was okay between the brothers, especially after she saw them physically fighting. Again, it was important to her; she missed her own brother. When Dolan asks her to come eat something with him, she agrees. They talk about the available food and what is “beyond†where there is other protein. She is finding him less annoying today since they are actually communicating, even if it is a strange conversation. Everyone knew about how Sidyths don’t eat meat, but apparently some could eat fish, and the round object he was eating did look like salmon. Other Sidyth ate the protein provided, but Dolan needed to eat protein/fish because he couldn’t process what his people were supposed to eat, like having a good allergy. She was beginning to understand and see how he was different. And the more she learned, the better she liked him. Was there hope for a future for them?For some reason, this story did not catch my interest very well, although it did get better as I continued reading. I didn’t especially like Layla but am not sure why exactly. Dolan was goofy, but he had some good qualities such as perseverance and loyalty. He really cared about Layla and would not give up on her. Layla was devoted to her brother, Shep, and took on an “entertainer†job to earn money for his medical treatments, not even sure the money was getting to him! The humor interspersed just didn’t draw me in as it usually does. But the series has promise and I would read another book by the author. It just may be this particular one was not for me. I do love the cover, although the picture doesn’t look at all like the Sidyth were described in the book. Grab a copy and see how Dolan and Layla figure out whether they were meant to be or not!

That said, the author does a good job of bringing the reader up to speed on the previous books with a well written prologue! The SidythðŸºðŸ†ðŸŒ‹ are making a new start on a new planetðŸŒ, Hethdiss, and the human💋 women are to be treated as equals.Layla💃💋 is one of the human women, but she still has her doubts about the sincerity of the SidythðŸºðŸ†ðŸŒ‹. She feels she has traded one prison for another. She regards, DolanðŸºðŸ†ðŸŒ‹, the Sidyth who as chosen her, as an annoying stalker! She is doing this for the 💰money that is supposed to be sent to help her sick brother. In reality, she doesn't even know if the money is getting home.Layla💃💋 has a crush on ExerðŸºðŸ†ðŸŒ‹, but it seems he is going to mate with her friend, Sloane. What to do about that? Be jealous. Laylas continued angst and denial over Dolan's intentions towards her became annoying to me as the book progressed. The book is well written and interesting, though. I loved Dolan's character. He seemed like the only adult in this situation.
I voluntarily read an arc of this book for an honest review. I love this book. I loved Dolan and Layla together. This book had twists and turns I wasn’t expecting. Layla s convinced she likes Exer. Dolan wants Layla for his Chosen but she’s not interested. I loved the transformation they both went through. Layla has depths to her and Dolan is a work in progress. He wants Layla so badly he’s willing to do anything. He’s completely devoted to her but so arrogant he can’t express his feelings. Layla just wants someone to love her for herself not what she can do for the,. This is a journey you will really enjoy. This story is about Layla and Dolan. Layla is a human who signed up to go into space for money to help her brother get the medicine he needs back on Earth. She and the other humans land on a planet to be paired with Sidyths. Dolan has picked Layla out to be his chosen one but Layla puts up a good fight. She feels like she shouldn't have happiness but with Dolan she finds that she deserves that happiness. It was a good story. It was a little slow at first but picked up as you get into the story.
