I do NOT recommend this book. I got this book to study for my RNC and figured since it was published in 2016 that it would be up to date - NOT SO.I'm having trouble getting through Section 2. About 1/3 of the way in, it says that a good way to encourage positive oral stimulation when attempting to initiate oral feeds is to use lemon and/or vanilla flavoring. How about breastmilk?!?! Many NICUs have stripped their units of lemon swabs because it's actually an irritant.Just a little further, the most appropriate answer (according to the guide) to what a parent should tell her other 3 children about their 30wk sibling is - tell mom that visiting the 30 weeker for long periods will cause separation anxiety! Way to go...freak out your already freaked out parent!And a little further, the best answer to which baby should be admitted to the INTERMEDIATE care unit is between a 39 weeker with TTN w/o need for oxygen, 33 weeker with apnea and bradycardia, or 40 weeker with a 50 glucose level. Answer is the 33 weeker...apparently. Every NICU RN I've consulted with, including myself, would admit the 33 weeker to a higher level initially and admit the 39 weeker to INTERMEDIATE for observation of TTN.It does give rationales as to why they chose the answers they have, but don't have the actual references attached to EACH answer - like some study guides have. At the end of the answer guide, they have a list of references (which are dated mostly 2009+).I accessed the online content. My mistake - I thought the e-book was going to be an actual text that I could look up information/rationales. Not so. It's an interactive copy of the actual book - you can highlight, make notes, etc with each question.The only reason I gave 1 stars is because they do have a nice sized question bank...I just wish I felt more confident in the answers that they deem correct.For those wanting to prepare for their RNC-NIC, I recommend getting any book that's associated with AWHONN or NANN. The NCC actually has a book out regarding the golden hour with VLBW infants that's handy. And the STABLE cardiac module is invaluable as well.

Lots of questions and a website is available with practice tests. That said, there were multiple instances where I found the answers to have rationales that were different than the information presented in Core Curriculum for Neonatal Nurses.

Great book. Detailed questions on a variety of topics. Perfect for review.

I greatly enjoyed the Kaitlyn and the Highlander, but this second book? Whew! The emotions were just all over the place. Love, joy, despair, hope, anger, hatred, more anger, more love, more hope.Kaitlyn really grows up in book two. And Magnus, he grows as well.The scenes with Grandma Barb were just so incredibly perfect. The description of that twinkle and laugh, it so reminded me of my sweet Gram who I miss more than words can say. Thank you for that as well.Well done, Ms. Knightly, well and truly, well done!

I love these characters and their everlasting commitment towards the other. Kaitlyn is strong willed and Mangus is determined to fight for their life together. Its beautifully written. Their sorrows are heartbreakingTheir sorrows are heartbreaking and their love is precious. All in all it's a great series to read.

I read this one in one day! I couldn’t put it down no matter how much I needed to clean house or run errands. Magnus is yummy and heroic; and this is unlike any other book like it!

I fell in love with the main characters during the first book, "Kaitlyn and the Highlander". This book kept their story going and did not lose any of it's appeal in this book. As a self proclaimed addict for all things Scotland and time-travel, I really liked this story. It's a light and easy read and very enjoyable.

I love love love this book serie! I love your two characters, Magnus and Katilyn, and their whole crew! a very good read!! I am a huge Outlander fan. and like Outlander it shou6be brought to film. it has the same action and drama and romance!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the first book, Kaitlyn and the Highlander. Time and Space Between Us, I think, is better than the first book. I look forward to reading the next installment.

This is a lovely tale of time traveling and true love worth waiting for! Must read the first one prior to this, but now I’m disappointed I have to wait like a year probably for the sequel. I think I will check out more books from this author!

This series is doing a great job of keeping my attention while I wait for the next book in the Outlander series!! I’ve tried to read other time travel series but wasn’t impressed.

This book got me into computers and networking. I now work at a Big 4 technology company designing network architectures despite having majored in Psychology. I owe an incredible amount to this book and to this author. I literally thought one day, "I have no idea how the internet works". I looked for books, and I had two choices, either this book, or a $160 textbook like this Computer Networking: A Top-Down Approach (7th Edition) that devotes hundreds of pages to different graph-based computer algorithms.This book appeals to two kinds of audiences: ** 1. If you don't know anything about the internet. This book is the best, most easy introduction to get. That's good, because it's also one of the only introductions that's not a textbook. You won't learn everything, because that's a lot of computer science algorithms, but you'll have the best overview from this book. The stories are good, but not excessive like in Malcolm Gladwell's books. ** 2. If you are under 35 and work in technology, no matter how technical your role. This is because so much of the technology you use now is virtual...software defined networking, virtual machines, virtual routers, VLANs, VPCs, AWS, etc. The internet is still a very very physical place, made up of hundreds of thousands of miles or wire, giant internet exchange centers (like the kind Facebook runs out of Nebraska that you'll never see), $80,000 routers made by Brocade that people like Verizon buy, etc. If you want to know how the internet works in the same way that you can open your car and know how everything works (as opposed to just buying a Tesla), get this book.P.S. If you are now pretty technical and want to move beyond the algorithms and other important-but-not-real-world kinds of learning, I suggest you check out Network Warrior: Everything You Need to Know That Wasn't on the CCNA Exam.

I do not agree with some reviewers claiming that the author lacks proper technical insight to write a worthy book about internetworking. It seems to me that it was a deliberate decision not to lean too much on tech details when describing how Internet works. Certainly I could not expect this title to describe inner workings of the TCP/IP suite, or how routers from different networks negotiate routes via BGP. The author, starting with a realization that most people don't notice the existence of networks (Internet is seen only by the content pulled from servers), tried to describe their physicality. Internet is not a nondescript "cloud", it happens to consist of cables. Lots and lots of cables.I like Andrew Blum's remarks on how Internet "tubes" strongly depend on world's geography and existing infrastructure. Cables are placed along roads, the largest Internet exchanges are placed in cities which already were commerce hubs, undersea cables originate and end near ports. Data centers are built in cold places with abundance of cheap electricity. The Internet, commonly perceived as ubiquitous, at its very core (the backbone network) is running over a not-that-large set of routes, governed by a handful of companies. Also appealing to me were the attempts to capture the atmosphere (the nature) of visited buildings and people; probably a bit stereotypical (all network engineers wear hoodies), but enjoyable.The author's penchant for expressing philosophical remarks (mainly on how virtual relates to physical) was annoying a few times but, OTOH, they make it a book which tries not only to convey Internet's architecture, but also its idea. A pleasant read, IMHO even for die-hard network specialists.

I'm an engineer and have always been interested in networking technology. When I heard an interview with author Andrew Blum regarding this book, on NPR, I immediately decided to buy and read it. The book is interesting and insightful in parts, but I found it a bit superficial and was somewhat disappointed with the superficiality of most of it. I guess I was expecting something more like Malcolm Gladwell's quantitative analyses of many of the topics that he writes about, but instead this book is mostly a travelogue of the author going around and just looking at various internet exchange points and data centers.There were two chapters that were really great: one concerned Andrew Blum's meeting with Leonard Kleinrock, who in some ways "founded" the Internet when he established the first inter-network link in the original Arpanet. Hearing one of the Internet's founders explain all the things he did and didn't envision for it was fascinating.The most interesting chapter is the second-to-last, in which the author observes the laying of an undersea fiber-optic cable in Portugal, which will connect it to the Azores and Africa. The nitty-gritty details of forming the physical interconnections between distant points are described here in an up-close way that I found far more satisfying than the detached, tourist-like point of view that the author takes in most of the book.

Where to begin? While the text includes a decent history of the Stratocaster, it reads a little bit like an overview of existing books. Wheeler refers to other books so often that I frequently wondered why I wasn't reading one of those instead. Some of the pics are nice but this has very few of those drool-inducing illustrations you'd associate with books like Nacho's black guard book. The photos here are nice but there are far fewer than I expected. Some models aren't even given the privilege of being pictured. I wish I could just jettison all the superstar rocker pics and replace them with Strat pics! I know what these people look like. I bought this for the Strat pics!The CD add-on is a joke. Despite the magnificent playing of the great Greg Koch, I was left wondering why Fender didn't spring for a DVD of performances by the great Strat players. Hearing Greg play a few snippets in each player's style is just plain dumb. I hope his check cleared.

This by far the best book I own in respect to the Stratocaster and its history. This hardcover, coffee table book is great from front cover to back cover. Carefully binded and in Matte black cover with color printings, The Stratocaster Chronicles is a must for guitar fans, strat players or not.There is not one of the 264 pages that doesn't include a great picture, from the first strats, to rare prototypes, to newer models, custom shops and stars' models.The book includes many excerpts with key memebers of the Fender factory in 1950's, including the man himself, Leo Fender, along with Bill Carson, Freddie Tavares and many others. The author dove into his archives to present the most accurate history of the Strat to date, from its inception, the two horns, the origin of the famous peghead and all the details of the most loved guitar.Rare pictures from the early 50's tell the tale along with narration from the author and dozens of interviews. This book includes an Audio CD with fragments of interviews with Leo Fender, plus 50 different sounds the Strat has become famous for, in the styles from player like Eric Clapton, Hendrix, Knopfler and Malmsteen, you can even learn to make your Strat sound like a Koto, from Japan!In all, just the pictures in this book are worth the price, the history, interviews and Cd are a great plus. Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the instrument that shaped modern music with this great book.

How did Leo Fender, a man who wasn't even a guitar player, get his design so right, first go?A great testament to a dedicated guitar making genius.I read this book primarily for pleasure since I love playing Fender guitars and I appreciate their design, but I was also wanting a proper overview of the design history so I could learn which years the best guitars were manufactured. I had lots of information, many facts and rumours from various sources but I wanted an overall context, a way of making sense of the whole picture and close up the gaps in my knowledge. This book was the perfect way to do it.Because it's chronological, I got a great overview and it made it much easier to remember what happened and why it happened and how it impacted the guitars' quality and design: features, like neck, pickup and body changes. Also the overall arch of management and CBS buyout and gradual ongoing restoration of the brand.It's also beautifully photographed and put together.There are more technical books you could read which list design changes, more like a manual, but I think this is the right balance of manufacturing detail and general history to begin with.

If you love Fender Guitars or you are the owner of a Fender Stratocaster, you'll thoroughly enjoy this well illustrated history of the Strat!!! This covers the creation of the Stratocaster from the very beginning. This gorgeous book makes a great coffee table book, hard cover and 280 pages in length. This book contains a lot of photos of famous Stratocaster players from the 1950s up, well written and very informative!! Get it, you'll be glad you did!!!

This is an excellent overview of not only the founding of Fender Electric Instrument Company in Fullerton, CA, but an accurate and honest chronology of how the world's most recognizeable guitar was built and marketed, as well as the players around the world who made it's sound their own. Great pictures of many vintage models, and many design differences and changes through the years are documented. For those not grey in the temples enough to have lived it, the CD provides some fabulous sounds of early Strat players at the birth of rock music in the late 50's. Highly recommended!!!

im not gonna try splitting the atom here...but love this book...arrived in great shape...well packaged...and on time..tons of great info enclosed...hard to put down...i see this author is writing another book about i think....marshall amps...i do have on wish list..i dont issue many 5 stars but this is a goody..enjoy
