I originally ordered "Dragonhearts" because three of my favorite poets had collaborated on a project, and I immediately knew that I needed it. I was not expecting it to fill in so many of the places in my heart. This collection of poetry is a beautiful tribute to friendship and self-love, two of the things I have been most neglecting in my life. There were times I had to close the book for a moment and just sit in the stillness of what I had read. I loved the collaborations by other poets that were featured as well, and all of the beautiful artwork by Trista. If you need a reminder of how powerful and brave you are, buy this book immediately. Then share it with your friends.

I bought this book as soon as they announced the release and did not regret it! I’ve been a fan of all three poets for a while now, and was excited to see them working together. The book is beautiful, and clearly shows the love these women have for each other. There are so many poems that highlight the ways they support and love each other. The focus on platonic love gives the book a sense of joy and strength that can resonate with anyone.

But still pretty good. This reads more self-help meets call to arms for the Women's Movement, and that's not a bad thing. I went into this most familiar with Lovelace's work, so I look forward to reading the other ladies' works now.

I felt such a strong connection with these poems. This collection feels like snapshots of my heart, my life, and my friendships. Absolutely love this! Also, I just gotta say - I see you, lady knights, and mages, and spies! “For Tortal!” was my first ever war cry!

The camaraderie, love, and support shared between these women genuinely makes me so happy. I already adore their work separately, but *together*... This collection was everything I hoped it would be. Can't recommend it enough!

This book was perfect in every way I could've asked for. It holds real friendship, the power of feminism, beautiful illustrations, and wonderful message - you can be both soft and a strong human who takes no shit, but loves freely and openly (to those who deserve it). These poets are my favorite's, and they didn't disappoint with a collaborative and poetic project. I saw this and immediately ordered one for one of my best friends too, surprising her. Excellent gift.

ok, so imagine three talented poets coming together to write a book about empowerment and self-love and sisterhood.good news! you don't have to just imagine it. it's this book. read it.

I loved this compilation from these 3 amazing artists. It speaks volumes to woman empowerment, surviving life, and coming out the other side as a fierce warrior. There wasnt a poem in it that I didnt somewhat relate to. If you are healing in life or struggling to do so, buy this book!

Martin Kihn didn't set out to write the next War and Peace, but that didn't stop him from lavishing some real care on the writing and character of this book. I read plenty of heavy stuff and this looked like it would be a nice book to read as a light-hearted breather. I got that, but I got more too.The concept of Kihn's book is inherently attractive to anyone who's ever felt like they're being taken advantage of because they're just too nice. Kihn had that feeling and decided to do something about it by making himself into this book's title character. That's the first thing that sets this book apart from a typical farce, it taps into an anxiety that is all too familiar for a lot of us.The second thing that makes this book a lot better than it might have been is how carefully Kihn cultivates a sense of going on an existential journey. He hires guides and advisers, finally stumbling upon an acting coach as his most successful "guru." As you read, you pick up on subtle changes in tone as Kihn transforms himself from Beta male to the not-so-kind leader of the pack. Kihn packs the book with one funny scenario and description after another, but he always holds onto the core philosophical question about whether nice guys do really finish last. To find out the answer, you'll just have to read the book. It's Kihn's ability to successfully marry the shallow with the deep that lifts this book above its station. So why just four stars? Well, it's still a book about attempting to be a jerk to make your life better. We have to leave some room for War and Peace.Recommended for anyone looking for a light and funny read with a soul who can handle a generous helping of vulgarity along the way.

but it didn't with me. I bought it on a recommendation and read it right away. The message—that you can't worry about what others think—is offered in a more positive, authentic, and effective way by authors such as Brené Brown (Daring Greatly). By contrast, Kihn walks you through all the issues he had with his jerk of a boss and then, in what seems like a collapse after all that buildup, clues you in: Illegitimi non carborundum (synthetic Latin for "Don't let the bastards wear you down"). Maybe that's the key to becoming rich and happy, but I can at least help you start out a little richer: save yourself the expense of buying this book.

At first, I thought this was a real account of someone's journey, it seemed written that way. Over the top and funny, I realized it was fictional half way through. A very different, interesting, and refreshing read. Glad I picked it up.

I've always found that line between self-help books and all-out down and dirty manipulation terribly entertaining. Martin Kihn's book exposes this quite well in a humorous tale of his own slightly misguided quest for self-improvement.

You know how this ends by page 50 or, rather you hope you do.No spoilers here but Kihn once again describes situations that many of us consultants occasionally find ourselves in. The fact that he can laugh about them and make us laugh about them as well is what keeps us coming back. Hell, it's sometimes what gives me the strength to stop screeming in my parked car and actually go into my office! Thanks Marty!

Wasn't as good as his House of Lies book, this book was a modified long-form article, which I enjoyed reasonably, but which lacked some teeth. Not as much parody as reflection.

I don't remembered when was the last time I laughed so much while reading a book but I can truly say that Martin nailed it. Being such a nice woman myself, I couldn't help but resonate with Marty's character.Safe to say half the things Marty did, I've done myself. LOL, but the internal dialogs are spot on. I enjoyed every moment of the book.

This is a well-told story of self-improvement that seems unintentionally funny, but is thoroughly entertaining. It can be in the self-help section, the business section, or the humor section of the bookstore. It helped me laugh, unwind, and learn a few things along the way.

Dude! Blues for Allofus! Not only live Hillmanriffing on Blue Fire anthology, taking Q & A,nuggets after nuggets, never to be repeated. Not to mention you get Parts 1, 2 & 3, whichbought separately, if you can find them, is wayway more green. One big theme is that as partof the environment we inhabit, dysfunctions we arefeeling come from pollution, consumerism, materialismrun amuk, so one can't be totally healed without takinginto account how the world you live in is you as well, and your being blue isn't just you. Steal of a deal here.

This book is as useful as it is unusual. There is no one like James Hillman, who has found a way to talk about the soul in a familiar almost tangible way while bringing together large areas of arcane knowledge--gnosticism, alchemy, nep-platonism, polytheism, and of course his own variety of Jungian archetypal psychology. This collection is many pieces stitched together, edited with great care , and though it is all one argument, there are so many and so frequent shifts in rhetoric and focus that it can be difficult to follow at times. But the argument repays close reading (and frequent rereading of particularly packed passages), so one should be prepared to earn the insight that Hillman offers in abundance.

Big Hillman reader here. Consider this his best

I love this book. The commentary by Thomas Moore is so enlightening. I imagine -- it's like being instructed on Socrates by Plato. The work, which I'm still in process of bringing into my world, is opening up a dimension of existence for me that I live in but do not understand. Hillman's work requires a surrender, and Moore encourages that surrender by illuminating the depths.

Another book by Hillman full of insight, and Healing Fictions..

Very happy.

This is an excellent overview of Hillman's work. It's just that a little at a time is all I can inhale!

"Sasquatch in the Paint" Hits a Grand Slam"Sasquatch in the Paint," written by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Raymond Obstfeld, is the story of Theo Rollins and the tough moments he faces in turning thirteen and becoming a teenager, and while an element of the story is set against the backdrop of basketball, this book hits a Grand Slam. And just as the title foretells, Theo must get into the paint of his life and establish his game there as well as on the basketball court, as he faces major conflicts at every turn. Early in the story, Theo is playing in a school basketball game and his opponent in the paint is majoring in confidence. Theo asks himself what is he confident about in his life, if anything, and knows the answer is zero. And we go from there into the mixed up and confused world of a young teen that climbs a seemingly endless staircase with no elevator to the top, but that is the heart of the journey we take with him.Theo is a thirteen year-old African-American boy at Orangetree Middle School in Orange County, California, a school where only a handful of black students attend, and is populated mostly by Asian students, with a dabbling of America's melting pot mixed in. His father is Marcus Rollins, police officer and widower, thus Theo is without a mother, and his best friend is Brian "Brainiac" Horowitz, a husky boy quick with quips and sarcasm, who is Theo's partner on the school academic team called Brain Train, and who happens to be Jewish.Theo grew six inches over the summer and his height bestowed some attention in the school halls never before given and he likes that, and when asked to join the school basketball team by Coach Mandrake he agrees, and that's where the story begins - in the middle of a game that Theo blows because of his lack of playing skills, as up to that moment Theo had chosen academic achievement over sports.Right then, in the first few pages of the book, the reader knows Jabbar and Obstfeld have crafted an adventure much more than an episodic coming of age tale, and that the story, rich with humor as well as the angst we all faced in our own coming of age, is something far broader, and bigger, and a challenge to stereotypes and prejudices.Theo was called "Sasquatch" by fans in the stands at the first game because of his big feet and his clumsy behavior on the basketball court where we meet him, where he towered above all other players in height, but was the shortest on skills. And the ringleader of the name-calling is a girl called by Theo, "Crazy Girl," aka Rain Kadinski. What story about becoming thirteen and all its issues wouldn't include a girl? But Rain is all new to Theo as the first girl noticed as more than a glance in his life, and not because of any romantic thoughts, this relationship is born in conflict because of her boastful intelligence and right-to-the-heart observations of Theo's behavior. Rain Kadinski inhabits her own world on her own terms and serves as a catalyst for Theo's life adjustments because of her radical difference in life attitude, a confidence in her word and steps that challenge Theo's insecurities from every angle. And that is how the story develops - with everything we expect to happen being turned upside-down - from Theo on the Brain Trust, to having Brian as his best friend, to being unskilled at basketball to meeting the first girl in his life with any meaning who is that way because of her truthful boldness, to an enraged cousin from the `hood whose song he had written and shared with only Theo had been stolen from Theo's backpack and was now a hit by a major band, to being challenged to a brain match to stay on the Brain Trust, to having his basketball coach pretty well tell him if he doesn't improve he is off the team, to the mystery of Motorcycle Guy and why he hit Crazy Girl, to just who the heck is Crazy Girl, to his dad's secret dating, to the question how does one young teenager even think about finding himself when his world is filled with a mine field of these issues exploding with every step? The characters in the story are numerous and clever, with some given formal names, like Brooke, the self-absorbed diva of the Brain Trust, to others just named by a quality they possessed - Motorcycle Guy, Burrito Breath, Tunes, Fuzzy Mustache, names bestowed by young teens as identifiable enough for the characters they encounter. Nicknames are a very important part of the story, for the story is told through Theo, and his identification of others as no more or no less than the quality they possess is humorous and certainly an of age characteristic we carry with us into adulthood. But just as the title foretells, Theo must get into the paint of his life and establish his game there, as well as on the basketball court, and is forced to face the struggles it will take. Theo's world is shaken when he sneaks a peak on his dad's computer and finds out good old dad is secretly dating a woman he met at an online dating service. And then there's this lack of confidence thing - both his basketball coach and his academic team coach put him on notice to ship up within the week or ship out. And that conflict is drawn so beautifully. We immediately love the academic team, except for Brooke, as they are characters drawn by illustration as likable, and here is where Theo has some gravitas - in knowledge. But the basketball team, outside of one player, Chris Richards, the respected best ball player who possesses Yoda qualities, is one-faceted, with talent with the ball as the only measure. Theo must choose which he wants more, which he can't do, and chooses to succeed in both, which he can't do.Again, the authors have written a story that is multi-leveled:Dialogue is a the diamond that drives the story, memorable and mostly humorous, as humor is the tool used by all age groups to face new ideas and challenges to the comfortable status quo. Humor moves the story forward, and forces us to look within our minds and decide how we are going to handle new conflicts, and a way is to poke fun at those newly discovered conflicts, followed by gradual acceptance. An exchange between Theo and Brian after Theo has lost that first game and blames himself is foretelling of the great juxtaposition of the Brain Train team and the basketball team, and the rich, depth of intelligence not afraid to be displayed by Theo or his friends, but worn as truth, is inspiring to young people to seek the same. This story doesnt' stop at one specialty group for an audience, such as athletes, but challenges young people to go beyond barriers and stereotypes. "I let those punks from Danbury Heights get to me. That skin-color comment shook me."Brian snorted. "Yeah, that's the reason you sucked." Theo frowned at his friend's sarcasm. "You wouldn't understand." "Right, because I'm white. There's no way a chubby white Jew with thick glasses, a wild Jew-fro, and perpetual acne could understand the emotional effects of name-calling. Thank goodness my life has been so full of unicorns and rainbows." Theo grinned. "Then you agree." Brian punched Theo in the arm. "As McLandburgh Wilson said, "The optimist sees the donut, the pessimist sees the hole."And in his first conversation with Crazy Girl that theme is developed in a magnificent exchange of the two on a playground that also foretells some coming conflicts in addition to this one: She saw Theo looking at her jersey. "Dr. J's number," she said proudly. Theo shrugged. He'd heard of Dr. J, but he had no idea exactly who he was or why he was called "doctor." He'd never followed sports of any kind. That was his dad's thing. ...She shook her head in disgust. "No wonder you stink at basketball. You've got no appreciation for the game or its history." Theo leaned down so his face was close to hers and glared. "Yeah? Do you know who Magnus Carlsen, Levon Aronian, and Vladimir Kramnick are?" She seemed to lift up on her toes to return his glare. When she didn't answer, Theo straightened up and grinned. "See? The world doesn't revolve around basketball. There are other things. More important things." She put the basketball on her finger and spun it like a globe. "Those are the three top-ranked chess players in the world. Carlsen from Norway, Aronian from Armenia, and Kramnik from Russia." Theo's jaw dropped open like a cartoon animal's. He was surprised it didn't clunk against the ground. She laughed. "Lookin' smart there, Sasquatch. Hey, maybe because of me, your nickname will be `Sasquatch.' When you're famous they'll mention me in the Wikipedia entry about you. `Cute, awesome girl he knew who used to beat his butt at basketball.' How's that sound?"For young adults it is a coming of age tale most can relate to as there are visible characters involved in the story who are the thoughts and fears and worries of young adulthood, such as Motorcycle Guy, who is a big, mean dude who hits Rain and of course, rides a motorcycle. And early in the story, though Theo doesn't know Rain yet except as Crazy Girl, he goes to her defense though he is no help. At that moment we see Theo as having courage to face his fear of a fight, along with some stupidity, so we choose to side with him and go along for his ride. For adults, the story is so well written, with twists beyond twists, second guesses, mysteries, and the most subtle foreshadowing of amazing happenings in a style that enlists us in the quest, while remembering our own walk through these issues, and checking to see if we have fully handled them, we become Theo's teammates. There are many great and colorful characters in the story, and each one has a major validity, the same as in our lives, where we have people around us we can use for support or use to hone our rough edges, just as iron sharpens iron. Also in Theo's life is Gavin, his tough, in-your-face cousin from the `hood who makes him feel uncomfortable because they have such different attitudes and values. But whose own journey is juxtaposed next to Theo's.Theo grows one small, painful step at a time; he doesn't sprint to self-adjustment, which is just another colorful contrast in a story filled with symbolic contrasts that are a backdrop canvas and never an intrusion into the story.Further, and most importantly, it is a great story, and I don't think anyone can put it down because from the first page we are in a world so brilliantly crafted by Jabbar and Obstfeld. This is no Hardy Boys crime drama; this is a real life story that is captivating and appealing, with all elements of story possessing a charisma that fascinates us and gives us what we want most from a book - enjoyment. How can someone you don't know guarantee you will enjoy this story? It is impossible, but I will do it nonetheless, it is more than an amazing journey, it is a pure delight, a rich novel as big as "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn," with some similar themes and poignant moments, this is one story so grand and so big, it seems inadequate to write a brief review, it is a great story that will not only touch young lives, but change them. All that a book can be is fulfilled within the pages of "Sasquatch in the Paint." And yet, it is also a humble story that welcomes us along with Theo and we savor each page until we realize there are no more to enjoy. My hope is there will be many books about Theo, and I will stick with him through the rest of his life, if Jabbar and Obstfeld are so generous as to give us that gift. Theo and company have become to me, the reader, a part of the family. And I would like them there on holidays, rainy days, sharing the adventure of our lives together.Lawrence PorricelliPresidentSouthern California Writers Association

This is a compelling story of boys coming of age in a diverse community. Each faces his own challenges raised by unique gifts and liabilities, and magnified by broken families and pressure from kids at school. This story takes place now, in our current world, and along the way we see how different forces in popular culture influence the choices each boy makes in his life. Nicely written at a level suitable for both middle school kids and adults.

I enjoyed Kareem's book about a boy who was growing faster physically than he was mentally or emotionally. I appreciated the relationship between the dad and son. They learned to hold it together after losing their wife and mother.Feed the "bib" was and funny yet realistic concept that most blacks in America live with everyday.I have a nephew that I thought about giving this book to after reading it. He grew faster that normal too. He is 7'2" at 19 years old. No, he doesn't play basketball because he has many bone abnormalities. That is one thing that breaks his heart, I think. Thanks, Kareem, for an insightful story!

Good product. Meet expectations

I have been reading this to my seven year old. It is good so far. Some older themes that I am not sure he understands not that I want him to at this point. Otherwise he enjoys it and follows the vibe of the book this fat.

Streetball Crew Book One Sasquatch in the Paint ..Great book, I bought this book to encourage my son, he's into it...Thank you...!

I purchased this book for my 13 year old grandson who plays basketball, and decided to get one for myself, as well, so I could read and discuss it with him (he lives out of state). Enjoyed it so much I didn't want it to end! Imagined that Theo continued to grow, did well in school, and went on to play in the NBA! :) And loved the unexpected twist.

Gave it to a ten year old boy, who reads way above his level! He said it will be one of his favorites! He also plays basketball at home & on a team.Great book!

Review

“A novel that ties in to a video game based on a sprawling sci-fi franchise shouldn’t be this good. . . . Battlefront: Twilight Company effortlessly thrusts readers onto the frontlines of the Galactic Civil War in a gripping tale.”—New York Daily News   “Compelling . . . an entertaining journey through a galaxy in turmoil . . . Battlefront: Twilight Company explores what happens to the cannon fodder fighting and dying in the background of space opera’s cinematic action sequences. Focusing on the life of a few low-ranking Rebel grunts caught up in a vast interstellar conflict, the novel is an enjoyable tale of interstellar adventure and drama.”—IGN   “Satisfyingly complex, immersive and moving . . . a war story unlike any Star Wars book that’s come before it.”—Roqoo Depot   “A military thriller [with] some pretty impressive actions scenes [and] the lived-in, gritty feel of the original trilogy . . . [Alexander] Freed shows us the military side of the Star Wars universe in a way that we haven’t seen much before, while also giving readers new perspectives on classic characters and moments.”—Tech Times   “Twilight Company is one of the greatest Star Wars stories ever about someone doggedly, cynically coming to understand why acting according to the light side is important.”—Den of Geek   “The strongest canon piece of Star Wars literature thus far . . . sure to be a fan-pleasing favorite . . . Explosive action scenes and dark humor only punctuate this character-driven tale [with] heavy world-building and cameos from other characters throughout the Star Wars pantheon.”—Alternative Nation

Over the years, we’ve gotten a lot of different types of Star Wars books. From Goosebumps to straight up horror novels, to romance and mystery to prison and time travel. Amid all those books, warfare has been a common theme, after all it’s in the title of the movies. But very few have presented themselves as war stories. The Medstar duology dabbled in the genre by taking a stab at M.A.S.H. The New Jedi Order books delved into warfare, but it was a matter of space battles and lightsaber fights. Yet Battlefront: Twilight Company doesn’t side step the war by focusing on a hospital unit. Nor does it Star Wars it up with lightsabers and dogfights with starfighters. Instead, this book feels like an account of a real war. These are ground troops slugging it out on unremarkable alien worlds, watching their comrades die, and not seeing an end in sight for the war. The heroes of the rebellion are legends that are talked about but rarely glimpsed. It’s grim, it’s tense, it’s realistic, and through the battles and conflicts, the characters become real people with real stakes. This is Star Wars drama at it’s best. It shows the grim faces of the war that populates the films we love so much. It raises questions about all sides of the battle through varying perspectives, thus giving light to angles we don’t often see. In short, this is a book you need to read. It’s not often that a Star Wars story expands our view of the Star Wars universe.Battlefront: Twilight Company explores several different viewpoint characters, but the focal point is Sergeant Namir. Namir is a squad leader in the Rebel Alliance’s 61st Mobile Infantry, also known as Twilight Company. As a grizzled veteran, he knows how to fight and strives to keep his people alive. Yet everything changes as they capture a high value Imperial target. With the Rebels retreating from the Mid Rim prior to the Battle of Hoth, this Imperial asset gives them a chance to strike back at the Empire and turn the tables. It leads to battles on far flung words and grueling campaigns in alien environments. The book puts the readers in the trenches with the soldiers as they sweat and bleed to stay alive. With Namir at its center, though, it’s not a rosy look at a band of freedom fighters striving to topple an evil empire. For Namir, fighting for the Rebel Alliance is just another war. He doesn’t have any stakes in the fight except to protect his people. He’s a soldier, it’s all he knows, and he’s good at it. Through the story, readers will get to learn more about him, his backstory, and what it is that makes him tick. The vast difference between him and big three—Luke, Han and Leia—makes his story rather refreshing. He’s not a wide eyed farm boy with Force skills, a scoundrel with a heart of gold, or a true believer of the Rebel cause. Instead, he’s something quite different.Aside from Namir and several of the members of Twilight Company, the book also explores the Imperial side of things. On the planet Sullust, there’s a female stormtrooper named SP-457 who is used to show what it’s like for ordinary citizens who decide to join the ranks of the stormtrooper corps. SP-457’s story is interesting because it does not glamorize the Empire. They’re as complicated as any group, and with people like her, it shows how they’re not all mindless evil doers out for selfish kicks. Then there’s Captain Tabor, an Imperial instructor brought out of retirement by one of the Emperor’s favored servants, a prelate named Verge. Together they show a different viewpoint of the Empire, one that illustrates the differences between the old ways and the new. Verge is the prime example of what the Emperor’s New Order is creating. He’s as much a creature of their excess as he is a victim. On top of all of that, there’s the Imperial asset that Twilight Company captures who adds yet another viewpoint to it all. From all of the different perspectives, the entire picture slowly comes into view. But the surprising thing isn’t that they all show one crystal clear picture, it’s that they show just how complicated and messy the whole thing is. In the war between the Empire and the Rebels, there are a lot of shades of gray, and allegiances are not set in stone. It’s worth noting that the book does jump around a bit. The main storyline follows Twilight Company in their present battles, goes through the Battle of Hoth, and then shows the battles that follow leading all the way up to Sullust. Scattered throughout that are flashbacks of Namir’s past life on a backwater planet riddled by war. Those scenes help reveal clues about his character. The book also jumps around from the different viewpoint characters. So while most of the book focuses on Twilight Company, you get a handful of chapters on SP-457 and her experiences on Sullust, which ties in later in the book. There’s also Tabor and Verge who get another handful of chapters as they hunt down Twilight Company. Everything comes together in the end and the format works well to break things up and showcase the different views of the war.The highlight of the book, however, is how well Alexander Freed nails the feel of a war story. I’ve read a lot of war biographies, and Battlefront: Twlight Company feels like a soldier’s account of his campaign in the Galactic Civil War. The little details of battle, the discussions between the soldiers in their downtime, the bond between them, and the violence of war, it’s all captured brilliantly. This feels real. There’s no better way to put it than that. Yet it’s not just they way Freed captures a soldier’s story, but how he uses it to illuminate the complexities of the conflict. Everyone in this story has a different motivation for what they do, and none of them are straightforward. They’re all products of their experiences and mysteries for the readers to explore and discover. Even by the end of the book, not all of those questions about the characters are answered, but there are a enough clues for the reader to make their own conclusions. It’s satisfyingly complex, immersive and moving. If you’ve ever wondered what it must be like for a soldier in the Rebel Alliance, this is the book you need to read.Having read over two hundred Star Wars books, it takes a lot to stand out and make an impression. What’s really impressive is that this is Alexander Freed’s first novel. With Battlefront: Twilight Company, he tells a war story like we’ve never seen before in Star Wars. It’s gripping, stirring storytelling that throws readers straight into the trenches with the soldiers of the Rebel Alliance. Who will live? Who will die? It’s all another step forward in the war against the Empire. I give it a five out of five.

This book presents a view of the Rebellion supposedly little seen, a company of grunts doing the dirty work fighting the Empire. It's a gritty book, filled with unlikable characters and the lead character doesn't believe in the Rebellion to begin with, he's a soldier doing his duty. There are a couple of cameos, but this is the story of Twilight Company itself. There is an additional arc about a crafty Imperial governor, who in my opinion was the most interesting character in the book.It took me forever it seems to read this book. It's slow, dull and the plot moves at a glacial pace. It's my least favorite canon book. While this book touches upon the rebels escape from Hoth, I have issues with the lack of leadership from Alliance high command. Much of it is non existent and Twilight Company has to follow it's own path. Even in the show Rebels, both Mon Mothma and Bail Organa were actively involved with rebel strategy and I sincerely doubt that they would've let Twilight Company falter. I've read Battlefront Inferno Squad, showing the fight from the Imperial side and it offered a much greater bond with the characters. To be honest, I just never felt a bond with anyone in this book. Very disappointing since the author is a Star Wars veteran who did a fantastic job on Rogue One, used to write for the KOTOR game and created one of my favorite characters. Unless you just want to read every book, you can wait on this one. Jonathan Davis did a wonderful job on the audiobook.

When I picked up this book, I had no real expectations that it would be good, or all that enjoyable. I am not a gamer, so I haven't played the game this ties into. I was rather surprised to find that I loved this book, and even more surprised to see that it was the author's first novel.I have missed this particular aspect of the Star Wars EU since the final Republic Commando novel. There hasn't been a proper war novel in some time, and I love to read stories from the perspective of boots on the ground. Showing the troops as hungry, dirty, tired at every turn was spot on. The curt exchanges between the main characters and the gallows humor were very accurate and not overly cheesy. The best part of the book was the main protagonist Namir. He is a battle weary war junkie. He doesn't believe in the Rebel cause, but he fights for the man or woman or alien at his side. As with most combat vets he doesn't care for the ideologies of the people in charge or their politics. He just wants to keep the people closest to him safe. What happens when he is put in charge?I also saw how the new Star Wars canon is fitting together more seamlessly. The book hints at what could happen if the Alliance were in fact to defeat the Galactic Empire. Of course the story doesn't end with Return of the Jedi. Of course the destruction of the second Death Star and the death of the Emperor doesn't mean the end of the war. This book also shows how a certain group of characters from a certain show could be alive and we just haven't heard of their exploits. But that is pure speculation on my part.Overall, I felt that this was the most thought provoking book to come out of the Star Wars EU in many years. I will definitely re-read it in the future and hope that Freed will write another book for Star Wars in the near future. This book was a worthy addition to the Star Wars lore.

Great book. My son started picking up on similarities between himself and the dragon. Now when we work together and he needs to follow directions, he reminds himself to be the good dragon :)

I ordered this especially for a 3rd grade student. He listened to the whole book, but was "too cool" to admit he liked it! I liked the format and the fact that the dragon was the protagonist, instead of the boy.

Teaches a good lesson in an entertaining way. My son loves reading this book.
