If you like to feel like you are in the middle of an adventure right along with the characters, reading Steven Becker is a must. His Mac Travis series is by far my favorite, however his books are all superb. Wood's Fury is full of adventure and intrigue, with such well developed characters that you actually feel like you know them. They seem so very real, which makes it impossible to not become so immersed in the plot that you feel like you are living the adventure right along with the characters. 5 stars is hardly adequate, it's too bad there are only 5 stars to give !!
Drugs being brought by turtle instead of mules. Interesting story, but a little stressful as an older fishmonger and his errant son compete for the drugs lost when Mac and Trufante cut them loose to help the turtle. Lots of boating and diving
Story gets stuck in the middle asTRU GETS INTO TROUBLE and drags Mac into another adventure.. the ending is great with another horizon for Mac and Mel to sail to.
Another exciting, fun to read page-turner. Just wish it was longer. Looking forward to whatever is next in this series!!!
As every book I've devoured by Steven Becker, Wood's Fury left me loath to put the story down. More excellent and beautifully pictorial writing!! Another great job! Thank you Steven
It was a good book, written by a good author.
Story carried a nice pace.
Mac.Travis.Adventure. Well, I mean, that really says it all, doesn't it? You know the devil-may-care Trufante will manage to drag everyone into the thick of things and that Mac and friends will be in their white hats (metaphorically speaking, of course--I cannot imagine a white chapeau withstanding the rigors of fishing) trying to save the day. Author Steven Becker has captured the knack of writing totally enjoyable stories that suck you into the moment like a whirlpool, toss you about like flotsam and jetsam bouncing on the waves, and leave you smiling at the end as you sail into smoother waters. Be aware that treasure is involved (also, white boots!) and I will shut up to avoid any spoilers.
